| Description | My name is Kanmani @ Corine Mahinda Luxshman, better known as Corine Kanmani. I grew up being an avid fan of Beauty Pageants and Singapore Airlines. So in the midst of my several attempts to become a Singapore Girl, I began joining a number of pageants in Singapore since 1999. From Miss Singapore India, to New Paper New Face, to Miss Singapore Universe... I finally won Miss Singapore World in 2003 and represented our country at Miss World in Sanya, China. This great opportunity came as an open window to a door that closed on me. On my 11th attempt, I had secured my position as a cabin crew in Feb 2003. Due to SARS; my training was halted and my group of 206 trainees were asked to leave temporarily, it turned out to be 8 months. That's how my journey to Miss World began. In 2007, I created and founded my own pageant titles namely: Indian International and Malays International (MSMI). We have had Miss Singapore Chinatown and Miss Singapore India since the early 90s but never one for Malays, and that's why I created one for our Malay girls and ladies. My Pageants embrace the traditional and cultural values of our respective people thus the contestants are always appropriately portrayed. Organizing Pageants became an expensive hobby, one that cost me quite a lot. One that was funded mainly from my salary. All because it is my passion. Thus I am now looking at ways to bring more of my classy events at some profit rather than losses. This year I've also created my own brand of high heels: Aaron Vignez - Pageant Heels for All. This I am hoping will launch me forward in my endeavour to be a successful entrepreneur and to leave a small but good sized legacy for my son. |
